Guardians of the Galaxy

I have been reading movie reviews for more than half my life, and I often wonder if critics have a “There was nothing wrong with it, I just missed the boat” rating. Or a “Well done, but I don’t care” rating. Guardians of the Galaxy succeeds on costumes, makeup, sound, every technical level, and especially the screenplay. I want to see more from the writing team. What else can I tell you? This is not my genre, and I am completely unfamiliar with the source material. I am interested in seeing the inevitable sequel(s), and it is my hope that all involved will be able to better marry the elements I liked with the interminable, confusing, but admittedly necessary action sequences. All the ingredients are there, and they are fresh. They just need to get cooking. GotG is ultimately nothing I need to see a second time.
