Interstellar

Grade: C+

Christopher Nolan’s new film Interstellar is well-made with an intriguing premise and an impressive cast, including Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Wes Bentley, Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Topher Grace, John Lithgow, and Ellen Burstyn. It is also lengthy, deep, complicated, heavy-handed, and borderline goofy, in the melodramatic way. I struggled to follow along, but there came a point where I stopped caring and let myself be hurled into oblivion. I didn’t understand all of it, and I’m not even curious to seek out answers to my questions. As a moviegoer, is there anything sadder than that? Grade: C+
